The thing that truly started the so-called “Cold War” was that Communism offered a counter revolution to the USA system of “Jim Crow laws” and of worker exploitation by the Capitalist system.
That was the challenge from Communism which the white American leaders could not tolerate. We tolerated the Nazi Party here and the Klu Klux Klan and many other groups, but at those times any group like the Communist who preach equality of race and workers’ rights was not to be so tolerated at all.
There is a rather interesting book called “Invisible Man” 1955 by Ralph Ellison, which is written as fiction because at that time the black author wrote such as fiction even when it was not fiction. It describes relations in the USA around the 1950’s when the Communist would preach their doctrines to the common people on the city streets, while African Americans were more interested in “black nationalism”, and the dominating white Americans did not like either of those sides.
Another point about the so-called “Cold War” is that the Russian Communist liked the USA, and they liked the USA so much that in 1922 they named their new united Country after our USA. The word “union” is the same as “united” and “republics” mean the same as “States”.
As in "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics" = U.S.S.R.
Which equals "United Soviet Socialist States".
Their name could also be translated as United States of Soviet Socialist, because the Communist group of Countries named their new united Country after the USA. THEN then it was the intolerant white American translators that refused to acknowledge this complimentary action and the American propaganda incorrectly taught that the name in English was the U.S.S.R.
Even the name “Communist” was misrepresented as it was only meant to mean a system that served the “community”, as like commune-ist, and commune-ism, or community-ism, but that was seldom if ever heard or told in the USA.
Then comes along the Presidency of Ronald Reagan and George Bush, and they knew all about the so-called “Communist threat” because Reagan and Bush were part of those white leaders during the times of the “Civil Rights” protest and reforms (1955-1968).
Both Reagan and Bush are credited with “winning” their “Cold War” and yet the basis of the claims simply do not add up, because Reagan and Bush were the ones threatening to escalate the hostilities against the USSR including the building of the 600 ship Navy, and new class intercontinental MX missiles which Reagan called as “Peacemakers”, then after being deployed he called them as “Peacekeepers”. Of course Reagan and Bush made other provocations against “the evil empire” as Reagan called the USSR, but it was that USSR that stopped the hostilities as the USSR was the side that stopped the “Cold War” and not the USA, as we never stopped it at all, and yet some outspoken Americans claim to have won – WINNER.
There was a movie called “Back to the Future Part III” which had the gun fighter named Buford “Mad Dog” Tannen, who was to have a gun fight with Marty (Michael J. Fox) but Marty finally learned his life lesson that to fight with that “Mad dog Tannen” was senseless and Marty refused to fight, even though he was called a coward and yellow and Buford mad dog Tannen claimed he was the winner and the big man because he was willing to kill or to be killed in a stupid gun fight instead of becoming civil or making peace.
That is what President Reagan and Bush did in that they acted like “Mad dog Tannen” as they used the USA to threaten world war, and mutual assured destruction or even Star Wars, so then it was the USSR that decided not to fight against the American war mongers, and the USSR saved us all because they stopped it.
There is another interesting story about that “Cold War” as we were often told of a film clip of the Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev at the United Nations in 1960, hitting his shoe on the table as like a mad man yelling “we will bury you” which is not an accurate report. Of course most people never asked and most reports never told the truth as to why such a powerful man and huge world leader did such a peculiar thing as take off his shoe and bang it onto his table at the United Nations conference? Why indeed.
As it turns out Premier Khrushchev was at the UN calling for a nuclear disarmament deal as the USSR was trying to prevent another world war and to stop any mutual assured destruction while the USA was leading the opposition so to prevent any such safety proposal to stop a possible nuclear war, so Khrushchev pounded his fist (not his shoe) as his effort to bring attention to the plan. He said: "You accept my disarmament proposals and I'll accept any controls." This is told from the British BBC News link, while many American sources still give the false claim that Khrushchev banged his shoe yelling "we will bury you" instead of reporting the truth.
And even more-so concerning the so-called “Cold War” is that the USSR sent in its troops to its neighbor Country of Afghanistan in 1979, and the USSR said it was done as a police action to bring law and order to that land, but the USA denied that reality and the USA under the CIA involvement created Usama bin Laden and inspired the creation of the Al Qaida and even empowered the Taliban in 1980 who took control of Afghanistan in 1996. All because the USA would not allow the USSR to bring law and order to that land, and now the USA is still in a 10 year war (since 2001) in Afghanistan.
The evidence shows that we the USA did not “win” the “Cold War”, and we did not even end the Cold War – no, the USA kept acting like that Buford “Mad Dog” Tannen, picture, out in the street claiming he won because the other guy refused to fight in his stupid fight.
