The idea of making English as the official language of the USA is a terrible idea as it is based on nothing but intolerance and bigotry against a weak and vulnerable target.
That self-righteous idea surely must feel like they are being strong and tough and mature when the reality is very much the opposite of that, as it is very similar to kicking against vulnerable people who are already down.
The person(s) who can not speak our English are already handicapped and disabled as they can not understand an employment application, can not understand the English television or radio or music or News reports, and can not talk to their neighbors or to strangers, so such persons in the USA who can not speak English are already being punished every day.
What I would suggest is that our Governments (Feds, States, Local) provide everything in every language upon request, but make so that every document is both in English with a translation into the person's own language so they can see the translation and proceed accordingly.
We do already have the technology to translate anything instantly into any other language, as like most of the major worldwide websites already offer everything into any language, so the translations are just a mouse-click away.
So for the USA to say that we simply are not going to do it, and our legalities are to be only in English - then that would be the low form of bigotry and intolerance without justification.
It is a pitiful wrong idea which needs to be resisted.

Eat that and chew on it.

Eat that and chew on it. That is NOT funny, and you are obviously another person who is handicapped in the humor department, as in you are not funny. However we do need for our American government to be completely able to communicate with anyone in any language because otherwise it means our own gov is handicapped and deficient. I realize the idea is that the person(s) who can not speak English are meant to feel inferior, but in reality it is a demonstration that our American gov is inferior and incompetent when we can not speak their language.

And I want this in triplicate.

People come here need to speak english and its just that simple. All that really means is that the USA is not mature enough to deal with humanity as it really is. And English is not the American language, as English is a European language brought here by its conquistadors. And there are many Countries if not most Countries of the entire world which have many languages within their borders. As like Russia has many languages spoken, as does China and India and even European Countries have many languages spoken within their borders, so it is extremely common and natural for people to have more then one language. The USA wanting to demand this one and only one language is us being intolerant and bigoted and immature.
